restless sky is the artist identity of antonia.fiber — a brighton-based painter working in acrylic and mixed media. her practice explores structure, control, and destabilisation through contemporary abstraction.
the name emerged from what remained. antonia had already belonged to other roles — the singer, the songwriter, the corporate self. restless sky holds everything that followed: constant movement, shifting states, an ongoing search for form. the sea and sky — never the same twice — became both reference and recognition.
her work begins in restraint — measured gradients and deliberate compositions — built through repeated, almost mechanical gestures. many paintings start at the horizon line, constructed through hundreds of controlled movements that establish calm before disruption.
then comes the palette knife.
surfaces are unsettled through abrasion, interruption, and material tension. at times, layered elements cut through the field — creating pressure, fracture, and resistance. in works such as pressure.under and exit.strategy, that tension is visible. in quieter pieces like mile.stone and nervous.system, the restraint holds.
titles are drawn directly from lived context. dead.line was made under real deadlines. command.center during a product launch. the language of systems, pressure, and control is not metaphor — it is the environment the work emerges from.
each painting exists within a negotiation: between containment and release, discipline and collapse. the work does not resolve that tension. it holds it.
