restless sky is a brighton-based artist whose practice moves between two connected bodies of work: nervous.system and archive.box
nervous.system is made in real time. these works begin with whatever the moment needs a surface for — sometimes atmosphere, cloud, colour and weather; sometimes structure, compression, boundaries and systems that hold until they don’t. pressure, control and emotional states are translated through paint, layering and interruption. they are painted during, not about.
archive.box begins later. restless sky gathers the residue of lived experience — packaging, receipts, tape, labels and objects that could have been discarded but weren’t. these fragments become evidence, used to excavate memory, value, identity and the meanings we attach to ordinary things.
one body of work is made in real time. the other is made from what remains.
across both, the work considers what we reveal, what we keep, and the systems we build to contain what cannot always be controlled.
